REHABILITATION
AUSTRALIA'S SUCCESS
PRIME MINISTER'S CLAIM
SYDNEY, March 28.
Speaking*at the official luncheon at the Eoyal Show, the Prime Minister (Sir. J. A. Lyons) said that the position of Australia today was better than, since the second or third quarter of 1933. Australia's rehabilitation scheme was quite beyond anything accomplished in other parts of the world. He urged the people to-keep their shoulders to the wheel, as the Commonwealth was not yet back on the easy road of prosperity. ■ Mr. Lyons added that the relief granted the community since the Government took office . was, roughly, £.11,000,000 in taxation and remissions, in addition to between £6,000,000 and £7,000,000 granted by the New South. Wales Government. ' ■' Mr. S. M. Bruce, High Commissioner, who received a very warm welcome back to Australia, expressed the opinion that the increased wool prices would be maintained, but during the next few critical years it was vital that Australia should maintain a high standard as well as continuity of supply, and also have a competitive price.
