TRADE NEGOTIATIONS
REQUEST TO BRITAIN

The Netherlands Government 'luivn informed his Majesty's , ; Government ■that they are nnxious to enter iiito negotiations with regard to trade between the two countries. Colonel Col ville, Secretary of the Overseas Trade Department, stated in the House of Commons that in, order to facilitate dis-. cussions the Netherlands have decided to continue for a-limited period to allot to goods imported from the "United Kingdom the quotas which were in force before the recently proposed reductions were enacted. His Majesty's Government are arranging to enter into discussions, the status quo on both I ndes being maintained in the meantime in the hope that it will be possible to arrive iat a satisfactory arrangement for the future. Colonel Colville anticipated that the discussions would begin at.an early date.
