"UNIMPROVED" IN DUNEDIN
(By Telegraph) (Special to the "Evening Post.") DUNEDINi March 28. In heartily supporting a petition to go before tho City Council to change the rating system from the improved to the unimproved value, the Mayor (the Bey. Mr. Cox), said that the change would give impetus to the building trade. Holders 'of vacant sections would forthwith endeavour to unload them for building sites or would themselves undertake building programmes. Too much Dunedin money found its way to the North Island, attracted by the higher interest offered. In' conversation with tho City Treasurer of a North Island city last week, the Mayor said he was informed that the recent conversion loan revealed a. large holding of northern eit.y debentures by Dunedin citizens. The magnitude of those holdings surprised tho city, officer.
