WEDDING

i ■ MeDONALD—McKAT. "' A wedding of interest to Wadestown people and city friends took place recently at St. Luke's ■. Church, Wadestown, when Lorna Ifreebury, only daughter of Mi-, and Mrs. A. McKay, Wadestown, was married, to Joseph Duthie, only son of Mrs. and the late Mr. J. McDonald, of Auckland and Te Kuiti. The ceremony, was performed by the Eev. J, E. Ashley-Jones. Miss Molly Withers presided at the: organ. In honour of the bride's long membership in the choir, the service was, fully choral, and a solo was sung by Mr. B. S. Withers. The church had been beautifully decorated.in shades'of gold and blue, the bridal pair standing under a bell of blue hydrangeas. 'On the altai- was a magnificent cloth of deep crochet lace, the work and gift of the bride's mother.. ■" =' ' ' •" The bride, who was escorted by her father, wore a, gown of cream "angel skin lace, with flared skirt, the sleeves being puffed above the elbow. Her veil, which was embroidered in, cream and silver bells, was arranged with clusters of orange' blossom-and silver leaves. She carried a sheaf of white tiger lilies and asters. The two bridesmaids wero Misses Betty Mclntosh (Hamilton) and Molly Cook (Wadestown). They wore dainty frocks of gold angel-skin lace. A velvet bow at the neck finished the' corsage. Their small beret tains of matching velvet wore caught under'the'chia with a strap. Each carried a sheaf of gold gladioli and zinnias. Mr. E. Taylor was best man and Mr. • J. S. Sleeman was groomsman. The reception was held in the Parish Hall, the guests being received by Mrs. McKay wearing'an. ensemble of fawn floral mariette, with smart hat to tone. Her posy was of Ted flowers. She was assisted by Mrs. McDonald, who wore a black floral ensemble of maroeaiu, and wide straw hat. She carried a posy in shades of:gold. Mrs. Godier and Mr. B. S. Withers contributed songs and pianoforte duets were rendered by Misses M. Cook and M. Withers. A dance was held in the evening, when a most enjoyable time was spent. Miss D. Storey sang several songs. Later the bride and bridegroom left, for the north, the brido travelling in a ' costume of Lido blue, with small velvet hat. Her coat was of black seal with I collar and cuffs of fawn squirrel (the ! gift of her mother). Their future home will be in-Highland Park.
