The revenue produced in the year from death duties was £76,264,363, being an increase of £11,579,803 over the preceding year. Surtax yielded £54,130,664, a decrease of £13,586,821, and income tax £250,559,973, being a decrease of £37,825,320. The number of surtax payers fell from 102,428 in the previous year to 89,790 last year. The estimated gross income of the nation during 1932-33 was £3J200,000,----000 as compared with an actual gross income in the previous year of £3,391,302,421, The number of persons with incomes exceeding £10,000 annually was 3616 last year, as compared with 4379. in {he' previous year.
