POWER AND TRAMWAYS

(To the Editor.) Sir,—lt Is gratifying to read that the City Council has decided to reduce power rates, particularly to the commercial users. This Reduction will be most acceptable to traders and we desire to publicly^ thank the City Councillors. Wo strongly virge retailers to take full advantage o£ this further concession, by using more light during the evenings. By doing so We tan brighten up ouv city and probably assist trade. AYe predict tlint the electricity department will not suffer in fallen revenue as they way anticipate. Alay we again bring before the tramways committee out previous suggestion! to 'introduce one penny fares in. the im» portant section- in the centre of the city; One penny fate from Lambton Station to Mercer Street and the Town Hal), anil one penny fare from Mercer Street and Town Hall to Vivian" Street and Courtenay Place. Throughout the day hundreds of business errands are necessary, and We feel that many pent) ies are being lost ill tram fares, especially during the quieter or business hours. 4 Wo trust that this suggestion will receive further consideration.—We arc etc., THE WELLINGTON RETAIL TRADERS' ASSOCIATION", ' L HURDLEY, Secretary.
