TENNIS VISITORS
AUSTRALIAN WOMEN'S TEAM
(By Telegraph.—Press Association.) AUCKLAND, This Day. The Australian women's tennis team, which is to tour New Zealand, arrived by the Marama. It comprises Misses N. Lloyd (manager)^ D. Dingle, N. Hall, IT. Valkenburg, and L. Bickerton. They will play at Whangavei on Thursday, and at Auckland on Saturday, and will spend Christmas at Kotorua, then proceeding to the South Island to compete in the New Zealand championships at Christchurch. They will play a Test match at Wellington on January 12 and 13, and then will appear at Masterton and Palmcrston North.
Miss Lloyd said that the side was the strongest available, with the exception of Miss Joan Hartigan,., the Australian champion. It was as strong in singles, and slightly stronger in doubles, than teams which previously had visited the Dominion. Miss Lloyd also said that hard-court tennis.was fast increasing in popularity, and it was now estimated that there were ten hard-court players to every grass player.
