NOT SALESMEN
The Chamber of Commerce at Wichita, Kansas, United States, recently tested the salesmanship of that town in an effort to find out why "business is bad." Ten men were given £2 each and were sent out to make trifling purchases of 2s 6cl, or less. They were instructed to buy whatever else the •clerks might suggest until their capital of £2 was exhausted. At the end of the day they returned with £19 still in hand. Suggestions from .salesmen were nil, and of the £20 clamouring to be spent the stores rcr.riverl but £1.
