PROPOSED APPEAL FEE

A strong protest against the proposal contained in the Finance Bill to require public servants lodging an appeal to one of the departmental appeal boards to pay a fee of 10s 6d was made in the House of Representatives today by the Leader of the Opposition (Mr. M. J. Savage).

"It seems that when they got to the board they did not get much satisfaction, and now we are going to make an attempt to stop them or discourage them from getting there," said Mr. Savage. "It seems to be a very poor way of raieing revenue in the first place, and in meting out justice in the second.''
