In the Sheffield Shield cricket match against Queensland, Victoria's first innings started extremely slowly, the day's play yielding only 136 runs for three wickets (Woodfull 10, Ponsford 23, O'Brien 34 not out, Darling 63 not out). Playing New South AVales, South Australia in the first innings made 316 (Nitschke 82, Ryan 04 not out, Shepherd 48, Lee 28). Hill took two wickets for 30, O'Reilly one. for 91. Chilvers three i'or 48, and Mailfour for 09.
