A CALL FROM VICTORIA
The Rev. R. J. Howie, of St. Andrew. Church, The Terrace, announced to his kirk session at the close of the morning service- yesterday 'that he had received cabled advice, from Melbourne that the congregation of Malvern w;is sending him an enthusiastic and unanimous call to become their minister. .'
In the absence of detailed information, he coiild not say at present what his' attitude would be, but he confessed that the call made a great appeal to him. It was a. call from his homeland; it was a call from the largest Presbyterian congregation in the State of Victoria; and it was a call that revealed a great act of faith on the part of the people. He had not sought the call nor made any overtures to bo considered as a. candidate for , tho vacant charge. So far as ho was aware ho did not know a single person in the congregation. Mr. Howio said that it would be wrong for him to set such a call lightly aside, but ho Avas waiting for fuller information.
