SUPPLIES OF CHEMICALS
In accordance with the scheme for the eradication of ragwort recently announced by the Hon. 0. E. Macmillan, Minister "of Agriculture, power is taken in the Finance Bill now before Parliament to authorise all county councils to purchase sodium chlorate in bulk and sell it oi* distribute it free for the destruction of - noxious weeds in their areas. To provide the purchaso funds the councils may raise .special loans without taking polls of ratepayers, and proceeds from sales of sodium chlorate may be applied either for the acquisi* tion of further supplies or in repayment of the loan liability. Payments made, sales effected, and distributions made before the introduction, of the present legislation are validated. •
