COUNTERFEIT COINS
At least two counterfeits of the new half-crown were passed in to shops in Lower Hutt at tlie end of last week. Bank officials to whom one of the counterfeit coins was shown stated that it was not hard to detect the difference when a comparison was made with true coins, for although the design of tho counterfeit coin was exact, the colour whs too leaden and the milling was rough. Some counterfeit shillings have been cireulatinc in the Hutt Valley in the last few weeks.
