India, was commenced today at Bombay, a crowd of thirty thousand being present at the commencement of play and increasing to forty thousand after the luncheon adjournment. Nayudu, captain of India, won the toss and gave his side first use of tho wicket. The teams are: — M.C.C.—Jardine (captain), Walters, Valentine, Mitchell, Langridge, Nicholls, Townsend, Barnett, Verity, Clark, and Elliott. India.—Nayudu (captain), Wazir Ali, Navle, Amarnath, Jai, Merchant, Colah, Amar Singh, Nissar, Ramji, and Jamshedji. Not much headway was made against the M.C.C. bowlers, and at tea the total was 170 for five wickets. The 200 mai'k was reached when the innings had been in progress for 278 minutes, and at stumps the total was 212 for nine wickets. Four of the batsmen were dismissed Ibw. Details:— INDIA.
