THE PRIZE-WINNERS

The ceremony of the presentation of prizes won by day-class pupils of the Petone Memorial Technical College (Technical High School) took place yesterday in the presence of a large gathering. The Mayor of Petone (Mr. D. McKenzie) was in the chair, and the speaker was Mr. W. Nash, M.P. The breaking-up ceremony was held m the Petone Labour Hall. Mr. D. McKenzie, chairman of the board of managers, was in the chair. Yimous trophies and certificates won during the year were presented by Mesdames D McKenzie and W. Nash and Mr. W. Nash, M.P. A surprise item was the presentation to the college of a silver cup by the prefects, to be awarded each year to the house securing the most points. The presentation was made by the senior prefect, R. Barrett, to the principal, Mr. A. MeFadyen. The cup wa6 later presented to the captains (boy and girl) of Seddon House, which .will hold it for ft. year. Adams, the best bat in the senior eleven, was presented with the presentation bat. Mr. McFndyen thanked the staff and prefects and highly eulogised the services" rendered by the latter. He also thanked the chairman, Mr. McKenzie, for his work in providing swimming baths. Mr. W. Nash, M.P., delivered an inspiring address on "Achievement," based upon the work of the late Sir Jas.
