DANCE RECITAL
Pupils of Miss Hazel Mai-tin • gave ,a delightful performance' at the Town Hall Conceit Chamber on Wednesday evening. A sailors' scena by two of the youngest children made a bright opening, and "A Moment with the Tiny Tots," in which about forty sniall performers : took part, was a ehaVming item. There followed a clever simultaneous dancing trio, a colourful Pied Piper scena, a tapping exhibition, some .clever clowning, and a. gipsy scena led by Miss May Hyams, which was one of the highlights of the show. In quick succession were presented "42nd Street.' a tiny Cupid, a dainty operatic dance, "Sur Les Points," a delightful number, "Come Round on Sunday," by Miss' Nora Hood, and a smart soldier dance preceding a beautifully {rocked "On Parade" ballet. The second part of the programme opened with a lively Irish ftena featuring an Irish hornpipe which is rarely seen. "Peter Pan and the Fairy" was a pleasing number, and Miss Hazel Martin performed a very difficult American toe tap which was warmly applauded. Other .numbers included a bright Spanish dance, a charming "Alice Blue Gown" scena, in which Miss Hyams sang and danced, a quaint doll dance, a fast-moving "Tally-ho" ballet, "Bits and Pieces", by the babies, who showed surprising confidence and versatility, a senior ballet in green and gold, tap and skipping dances, and a black and white ballet by senior pupils as a finale. Miss Grade Kerr and Mr. Bert Hickford were popular performers. Those' taking part were Winnie Furby, Beryl Ward, Vera Bellamore, Kath Leper, Kath Flan.
