"MAN OVERBOARD!"
One or two incidents on the harbour recently have shown very definitely that the move to have the crews of centreboarders equipped with lifejackets might well be extended to thecrews of keelers. Under certain circumstances it is very easy for a man on a keel yacht to go. overboard, and unless there is smart handling of the boat there may be serious trouble. If the clubs take up the idea of wearing life-jackets, as they should, then some consideration should be given to- the desirability of making the wearing of the jackets compulsory on the keelers as well. The life-.iacket was unanimously ap« proved by the association on Wednesday night, and it is to be recommended to affiliated clubs for adoption. Captain W. J. Keane said that the jacket had been successfully subjected to the Marine Department's standard test, and 'after it had been thoroughly tried out by clubs ho thought the Department would approve of it for use in pleasure boats plying for hire. ft
