CITRUS GROWING
INQUIRY TO BE MADE
Serious doubts have been raised by the Department of Agriculture as to whether the culture methods employed on a citrus-growing proposition in North Auckland are such as to produce satisfactory results. This statement was made by the Minister of Agriculture (the. Hon. C. E. Macmillan) in the Hbuso of Representatives yesterday, when replying to an urgent question asked by 'Captain H. M. Bushworth (Country, Bay of Islands). The -Minister also announced that it was proposed to look carefully into the matter and to mako expert advice available to whatever extent may. bo needed.
Captain Eushworth's question referred to recent advertisements inviting boys to go ori the land near Eaeo, North Auckland, to develop it for citrus culture, a fee, of £ 250 to bo paid in respect of each boy, who is to receive in-due course six acres planted in citrus trees.. . '■.■'•
