MOTUEKA HOSPITAL
LEASE A SUCCESS
ABSENCE OF COMPLAINTS
(Special to the "Evenlno Post.") NELSON, December 14. When the Nelson Hospital Board lasi year proposed to lease the Motueka Cot? tage Hospital in preference to administering it from Nelson, considerable opposition was raised to the scheme both front the Department of Health and locally.' However, the board has received a very satisfactory report for the first year under* the lease, and this fact was referred to. by the chairman (Major R. Dagger) at the monthly meeting of the board. Major Dagger said it was very pleasing to the, board to receive such a satisfactory report from the lessee at the end of the first year. It was only the success o£ the hospital under lease which would justify the board's action in the matter, and the board now had that justification. So far there had not been a complaint from the Motueka residents, and in addition the Health Department recognised the success of the scheme. Since the arrangement was made there had been a number of applications by other boards which wished to know how Nelson hadbrought about the lease, and the conditions, as they wished to put similar • ia* stitutjons on the same basis.
