SPORTS ACTIVITIES
The finals of the gymnastic competitions at Nelson College were held on Wednesday evening. The competitors in each division gave a splendid exhibition, the standard of proficiency ia the senior class 'being superior to that of last year. The following were the results:— Under 14 Class.—E. B, Beattle, 70% Points, 1- }. V. Stewart, 67, 2; K. D. Bale, 65%, 3. Junior class: G. W. Hamlln, 72 points, 1; P. M Gawlth, 71, 2; N. V. Kyder, 70, 3; T. W. M. Shand, 69y 2 , 4; R. iW. Jaraleson, 68, 5; A. H. Forbes, 66%, 6; R. B. Armstrong, 64%, 7 Senior class: R. L- Annand-Smith, 76% points, 1 (senior cup) ; 3. C: Fl. Hayter, 72, 2; G. T, Rapley, 71; 3; T. W. Straker, 70, 4. After the gymnastics the usual pyramid display was given,- and then Mrs. Richmond Fell presented the gymnastic prizes as well as trophies In connection with the following C°Boxlng.— Midget weight, It. Cup for best all-round cricketer: R. K. Karsten and R. A. Buddie, equal. Morrison Cup (excellence in sport) : R. K. Karsten. Masefleld Cup (lnter-houso football) : East House. Duncan Cup (Cock House Cup) : East House. In concluding the c^mony the principal. Mr. H. ■V. Searle, tendered the thanks of the school to Mrs. Fell for presenting the prizes, and to Mr. W. G. Slurray for judging the competitions, and expressed great appreciation 'of the work done by Messrs. A. C. Tatton and Ken Johnston in coaching the boys in gymnastics. .
