COLONIAL MUTUAL CORNER
The City Council last evening approved the following conditions for the erection of the new building for the Colonial Mutual Life Assurance Company at the corner of Customhouse Quay and Willeston Street. The building is to be erected to the maximum height permitted under the bylaw, 102 ft to the top of the parapet, but the roof tower will be permitted to stand above the limitation height to accommodate lifts and water tanks, and portion of the Mansard roof will also be permitted to stand above the limitation, provided this addition is not used for commercial purposes. The corner of the building on Customhouse Quay and Willeston Street is to be splayed back six feet measured each way. The land is to be dedicated to the council free of cost. No action is to be taken to widen Willeston Street on its northern side.
