MAORI RELIEF
.The< statement-that there was no desire on the part .of the Government to discrimmate unfairly between Maoris and pakehas as.far'as relief allocations were concerned was made by the Minister of Employment (the Hon. A. Hamilton) yesterday when replying to requests from a deputation representative of North Canterbury, Tcmuka, Levin, jind Shannon Maoris. The- Minister pointed out that it was difficult to return to the summer allocations, which were smaller than the winter allocations. There was no desire to discriminate between Maori and pakeha allocations, but where a Maori had a piece of land and a dwelling, that could not be overlooked. ■ ■
