• • Courses are growing faster and faster, and; without vain putting will soon bo a trial, as the average city footpath has little.on some of the inland greens this weather. It will not be long now until the water is laid on to the Horetaunga greens, which will greatly improve this sunlmer course. ITiery greens are the one drawback to summer golf. It is the time of year when the medium hitter who has the knack of judging approaches despite the extra run on the ball comes into his own, especially if he has the art of stroking his putts truly, but it is admittedly difficult to hit a threefooter firmly and truly, yet guardedly. One wonders what the courses will be like by January, unless tho weather changes. ' ..
