HERE AND THERE
Seatoun Play-reading Circle. A large number of guests met in Mrs. B. M. Allan's drawing-room on a recent evening 4o hear an entertainment by the newly-formed play-reading circle at Seatoun. Mrs. Lancaster and Mrs. Sidney Higgs were responsible for producing three one-act plays. ' Threaders were encouraged ,by the enjoyment of the audience, and by some very helpful criticism from Mr. Bradwell, who was among the guests. < A buffet supper was served, and several new members wore elected. W.O.T.TJ. Shop Day. The Women's Christian Temperance Unions of AVcllington District, will hold a "shop1 day" tomorrow in aid of district funds. This society is doing _ a very good work for the community, and it has made no appeal for public funds for a long time. There is to be a very large gathering in, Wellington in March in celebration of the jubilee of the W.C.T.U. in the Dominion, and funds are needed in connection with this and various other activities. The promoters of this sale appeal with confidence to the public to support them by a visit to the shop. There will be goods from unions as far away as Plimmerton and the Wairarapa, and good value is assured. ' \ Karori League of Mothers. Mrs. Boilings spoke on the "Palace Beautiful" at the concluding meeting for the year of the Karori branch of the League of Mothers, at which there was an unusually large gathering. Mrs. Boilings, who was given some lovely roses and lilies of tho valley, expressed her pleasure at the growth and development of the Kaiori branch. Songs by Mrs. Hill weTe accompanied'by,Mrs. Edgar, and during tea members enjoyed some friendly social intercourse, regret being expressed that the pleasant meetings were over for the year.
