LEFT HAND CRUSHED
CLAIM FOR COMPENSATION
A labourer, Michael Donovan, proceeded against George H. Scales and Pacific, Ltd., shipping agents, in the Arbitration Court toda^ for compensation in respect to an accident in March last. Mr. 0. C. Mazengarb appeared for the plaintiff and Mr; W. E., Leicester for the defendant company. The accident took place while the Anglo Canadian was loading wool, the plaintiff's left hand being crushed by a dump of wool. The plaintiff, who claimed'to be still disabled as a result of the accident, received compensation at the rate of £2 18s 8d per week up to June 27 last. Since then he has received no compensation and asked for what relief the Court saw fit to grant. The defence admitted the facts of the accident and liflbility, but claimed that, acting upon medical advice, three weeks' | compensation was tendered at the end of. June, last in full settlement, and furthermore that the sum of £8 15s had been paid into Court in full settlement. The Court was engaged this morning in hearing medical evidence in respect to the injury and the degree of disability suffered by the plaintiff.
