THREE HUNDRED GUESTS

HER EXCELLENCY PRESENT

Karitano nurses in trim blue uniforms made a charming guard of honour for her' Excellency Lady Bledisloe when she visited the hospital ■ yesterday afternoon. Nearly three' hundred members of suburban and coastal town committees were present as the guests of the Wellington central committee of the Plunket Society. . ■ Her Excellency wore a spring green frock under a squirrel coat and a turban hat of tucked green velvet. She was aecompanifld by Miss Diana Harris, who wore a frock and small hat of cherry lainage and a brown fur coat. Her Excellency was received by Mrs. Tythe Brown (president of the Wellington Plunket Society) and Miss. Clark (matron of the Karitane Hospital). In a short happy speech, Mrs. Tythe Brown welcomed her Excellency and Miss. Elsmie Ward (secretary of the: Wellington Elunket Society). She then presented the presidents and secretaries of visiting committees. . A tour of the wards and living-rooms, which were bright with flowers, followed, and each of the sisters and nurses was in turn presented to Lady Bledisloe. Tea was served in the sitting-room, where golden Iceland poppies made vivid decorations. ■ Before leaving, her Excellency, accompanied by Sir Truby King, visited the gardens. • : Mrs. Tythe Brown wore an ensemble of black lace and georgette and a wide-brimmed black straw hat. Miss Elsmie Ward wore an elephant crepe ensemble of hazel-nut brown and a hat of brown and cream.
