NELSON NEWS
THE MONTH TOO DRY
(Special to the "Evening Post.")
! NELSON, October 19. The weather in Nelson for the past six weeks has been very dry, and so far this month there has been no rain. Fortunately plentiful late winter rains prepared the sub-soil for a dry period, but vain is now needed in all parts of the district or a shortage of stock feed in the autumn will probably result. Usually October is a fairly wet month here, but there has been nosign of rain and in addition southerly winds have! had a drying effect on the countryside. Nominations for a vacancy on the Nelson Land Board caused by the retirement of Mr. John O'Began by eflluxion of time closed yesterday. The only nomination received was that of Mr. O'Regan, who is therefore reelected as from December 18 for a period of two years. j
