MAMOS DEFEATS CLARK

In a thrilling wrestling bout, -which opened promisingly but later developed into a fracas, Harry Mamos defeated Jack Clark tonight, the American, being unable to continue after being backslammed in the.first few minutes of the i seventh round. Clark got the first fall in the third round with a body press after throwing Mamos three times with a series of headlocks. -■. . • The sixth round developed into a
brawl, both wrestlers exchanging kicks and blows. Trouble started when Clark lashed out with a left, which the Greek counteracted by sending Clark to the mat with a hard right. Thereafter they mixed it freely, the referee being unable to separate them. Alamos threw Clark over the ropes with a cross-buttock, and when the bout was resumed Mamos was cautioned for sinking his knee into his opponent's stomach. Clark throw the Greek three times with headlocks. The third time Mamos rolled under the ropes. Clark climbed after him and the pair came to grips on the edge of the stage. Ec-entering the ring, Mamos twice sent Clark to the ropes with heavy blows on the face, the round ending with Clark in a j>ainful toehold from which he escaped with a face bar. At the beginning of the seventh round Mamos picked Clark up with a back-loop and slammed- him hard on the mat, securing a fall. Clark was dragged to his corner semi-conscious, and was unable to continue when the bell sounded.
