MARLBOROUGH'S PROPOSAL
(By Telegraph.—Press Association.) . BLENHEIM, August 4. In connection with the Come-to-Blen-heim Week, which is being run in conjunction with the New .Zealand boxing championships in September, the ( Marlborough Racing Club decided tonight, subject to the approval of the Racing Conference, to hold a special race meeting on the Waterlea course on September 8 and 9, with a programme of six gallops each day. Special steamer fares from Wellington to Picton have been. arranged.
As no extra permits will now bo granted by the Minister of Internal Affairs, the only way in which the Maryborough Racing Club may have the proposed meeting is to transfer its own summer or autumn dates forward to September. It is, of course, also possible that other clubs will object to this. —"Rangatira."
ANSWER TO CORRESPONDENT. "Inquisitive."—The winnings of the two-year-old Dole last season were £885, as given yesterday, not £1050, as you say you have read elsewhere. They were made up as follows:—lst Taita £115, Ist A.R.C. Nursery £175, Ist A.R.C. Criterion £200, 2nd W.R.C. Hopeful £35, and Ist Champion TYO Plate £360 (£2lO in specie I and cup valued £150}.
