DECISION TO RESIGN
C.J.C. CHAIRMAN'S REASON
(By Telegraph.—Press Association.) ' CHRISTCHURCH, August 4. Mr. George Gould today advised the secretary of the Canterbury Jockey Club that he wished to resign from the chairmanship of the club as from the end of the present month. In a statement today, Mr. Gould denied that his reason for resiguinjf was the recent decision of the club to reduce the subscription from five guineas to three guineas. He said his principal reason for resigning was a desire to save Mrs. Gould from the effort of supervising the social side of the meetings, the strain of which was too great. Mr. Gould will retain office as treasurer.
