CHRISTCHURCH CONFERENCE
A • lengthy agenda, paper ~ has been drawn up for the second conference of the New Zealand Grassland Association, -which will be held in Christchurch from August 15 to August 17. The opening sessions will be devoted to consideration of contributions from a special' economic section, in which Mr. E. J. Fawcett, of- the Department of Agriculture, Mr. F, E. Callaghan, of the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research, and Mr. D. O. Williams, of Massey Agricultural College, will survey and discuss the economic situation. . . Papers will be read by Professors B. S. Alexander and F. W. Hilgendbrf, and Mr. M. J. Scott (Canterbury Agricultural College),, Messrs. J. W. Hadfield, E. Bruce Levy, R. B. Tennent, and N. Foy (Department of Agriculture), C. H. Hewlett (Canterbury Seed Company), \V. W. Mulholland (representing the farming interests), W. A. Jacques (Massey Agricultural College), and Dr. H. 0.. Askew (Cawthron Institute), Messrs. A. W. Hudson (Department of Agriculture), G. H. Holford (attached to Imperial 'Chemical Industries, Ltd), and L. Napier (Pacific 'Potash, Ltd.). ' . In addition to the presidential address of the Assistant Director-General of Agriculture (Mr. A. H. Cockayne), some of the major problems likely to arise in the future advancement of grass farming will be dealt with in papery prepared by Professor W. Riddot, of Massey Agricultural College, and Messrs. G. A. Holmes, of the National Mortgage and, Agency'Co,, Dunedin, and W. X McCulloch and E. P. Connell, of the Department of Agriculture. ' ■
