Bartfn Henri de Rothschild,'s collection of autographs (which was recently transferred, by deed of .gift to. the National Library, the donor retaining the collection for the rest of his lifetime) is qf inestimable value. It represents nearly half a- century ■of researches, and purchases,, inasmuch as Baron Henri de Rothschild- started hi? collection when he was still a schoolboy. '■•■■ ■. ,j • It comprises over 5000 documents, extending ■ from the 14th century to our own times. Among the papers belonging to the Middle Ages and Renaissance, are records of:the Royal Treasury's difficulties after the battle of Agincourt (or Azincourfc as it is called in France) in 1415. j '
