THE LESSON
(Original.), One morning Mary woke to find that It was raining, ' and as she had a rery slight earache l she told her mother that she felt ill. So mother gave her some castor oil and if she did not. take it she would have to go to school, so mother said, so Mary took it. .:....•■/■ She went to sleep again, and was awakened by a crowd of friends who were passing her window to meet her to go' for a picnic. Then she remembered it was a holiday, and she had-arrange'd to go for a • picnic with, her friends. She was just going to climb out of bed when her mother came into the room and told her to go back to bed, as she was too ill to get up and go'with her friends. After that Bhe did not say she was ill unless she had made certain it was not a holiday that day! "KATINKA" (13). Petone.
