ESCAPE FROM WARDERS
PRISONER MAKES OFF
(By Telegraph.—Press Association.) , AUCKLAND, This Day. William Henry Charles McKay, alias Bpaumont, Sinclair, Freede, and Kessel, escaped from warders at Mercer this morning, while being escorted from Wanganui to Auckland. He escaped just as the train was leaving. - ' McKay, who was a habitual criminal, is identical with Joseph Gordon Lamb, who on July 31 at Christchurch, was sentenced to a term* of six months'for theft, following exposure of an attempt to hoax charitable organisations in Christchurc-h.
