A long discussion on the question of the return received for expenditure on relief work took place at the Ashburtoh County Council. meeting today. One member • affirmed • that a great deal of work had not • returned in labour 25 per cent, of tho nioney.it cost. In reference to the decision of the Ashburton Belief Workers' Union against : entering camps, it was decided ,tka,t', if tho men adhered -to their decision tho eduneil would put all rolief work on a piece-work basis, and that if the camps were not filled the men in future wduld have'to pay tho cost of their transport to and from jobs. '
