TURF NEWS IN BRIEF

There will be no brackets in any event at the Foxton Meeting tomorrow.

Klicit, who will be making a reappearance in the Steeples at. Foxton tomorrow, has been off the scene since he broke down in a hurdles at Awapuni over two years, ago. On that occasion he was a hot fuvoitrite'. Mr. A. F. Symes still owns him.

Hest. who will be liiaking her debut in the maiden at Foxton tomorrow, is a two-year-old bay filly by Hunting Song, from the Egypt mare Hathor, a useful galloper whose brief career was closed at the end of her four-year-old /season. Hest will carry the colours of Mrs. J. MeCartin, of Otaue, the .wife of her breeder. A. M. Wright trains her at Otaki.

Another new name among the Foxton maidens is Hunting Lady, a four-year-old bay mare by Hunting Song from a San Fran mare, and' a year-younger full-sister to Thrasher. She was bred by Mr. A. M. Williams and is held on lease by Messrs. CJ. and J. Physick, of Masterton. Mr. C. Physick is the owner also of Eedtop, and the partnership colours vary only by the substitution of a black for a red cap.

The. three-year-old Lord Quex filly Fusion, who was bought by Mr. B. Hamniond for 25 guineas at the Bidwill dispersal sale at Easter, and was resold after she had had only one race in the Navaho livery, will make her first appearance in her new owners' colours tomorrow. The Foxton card gives her as,now belonging to Messrs. J. Chesterman and H. Cunningham. She is in D. McCauley's team at Trentham. ' - .

The Paper Money two-year-old filly After Money, .who races in the interest of Mrs. M. Higgins, is to be sent across to Sydney early next month, says an Awapuni report. While this filly has not done anything of note as yet, she is a free galloper, and she should come good next season.

A. Reed, who "was seriously injured some weeks ago in a fall at Mentone, Victoria, has made a good recovery, and expected to be able, to resume riding on the tracks last week. '■■.".

According to a 'southern1 report Princess Argosy, who still .-remains in the Winter Cup.' has' been giving P. MeGrath ■•trouble lately, one of her legs being the source. She is on the easy list at present. .

The Awapuni trainer, J. P. Coyle, lias been trying a change in tactics with Nebulae, whom he has been restricting to easy tasks. After jumping away at the six furlongs post on Tuesday he was speeded up over the last three to run them in 42 2-ssec. The filial event at Foxton tomorrow may serve to show whether the change in' method is to be successful.

judation, who claims engagements at the Grand National fixture, was speeded up over six furlongs at Awanuni on Tuesday morning, when, haviiis; Chief Marionette as a partner, he ran the distance in lmin 20sec, the best six furlongs of the morning. Her dam, Precious, was also given to Holmes, who has since handed her over.' to Mr. A. Louisson to bo mated with Kightmarch.

Commenting on Cylinder's prospects in the Winter Cup, one writer suggests that his New Zealand Derby win might be overrated,, .is it was a poor field he beat. But at that same, meeting Cylinder triumphed over' Niehtmarch at weigh t-for-apo in the G. G. Stead Gold' Cup (1% miles), and Nightmareh within the week prior had won the New Zealand Cup under record weight, and also, with the greatest of case, the Canterbury Cup!
