gold exhibited in Dunedin this week from the Stewart sluicing claim was obtained within the past four weeks by ground sluicing on the terraces near the township of Waikaka. Over 2,000,000 gallons of water are being pumped daily from the Little Waikaka River into a reservoir situated at an elevation of 170 feet above the river. The pump used is a seven-inch single-stage centrifugal, • beltdriven from a Diesel engine of 114 brake horse-power. The water is conveyed from the reservoir under a pressure of 461b per square inch to the nozzles at the working face.
