CAPTAIN TO BE SHOT
RUSSIAN RIVER STEAMER
CAPSIZE BY OVERCROWDING
MOSCOW, July 26. The captain of the excursion steamer which capsized.onthe Volga Biver with 250 excursionists aboard has been sentenced to death by shooting for permitting overcrowding. Seventy lives were' lost as the result of the capsize.
It was reported- last week that workers and their families numbering two hundred and fifty wero on board the steamer, which "was making an excursion trip. The Soviet ordered tho trial of the-union organisers for allegedly permitting overcrowding of tho vessel.
