Discussing a. proposal to employ relief workers' on tree-planting for beautification,. "Much Felt Want" submits that a more urgent and necessary work is the permanent paving of Washington Avenue, one of Brooklyn's main thoroughfares. Most bus routes in other Wellington suburbs are paved \vith bitumen, and why should not Brooklyn be treated similarly ?
1: "Mere Cyclist" makes a strong protest against-the practice 'of some motorists in opening their car doors on the street side. The writer was • knocked off his bicycle through a motorist doing this, and the bicycle waß run over by a following lorry. It is suggested that a bylaw should be made prohibiting1 the practice or, some careless drivers «will have their car doors knocked off the hinges by a tramcar or lorry. - •
fit is ■-suggested 'Tjy "A. -Ji'-Ondop" :that metal for-the: new 'road Matiangi, which has been1 constructed through the Wilton Block, should be obtained from Waingawa. The stone crusher cbuld'.be erected so that the metal falls right into the trucks. The stones would have to be "carted about three-quarters of a mile, and there is an unlimited supply.
