COLLECTING WAGES TAX
(To theEaitor.)
Sir,—ls there .-a Regulation which' provides .-fqr. the payment of the unemployment levy by affixing asd stamp weekly for twelve weeks, instead of paying the ss. in one amount? I ask, -because as a single man I am in receipt of 7s 6d per week dole money, and a' few weeks ago, when I went to the Labour Bure.au for payment, they deducted 5s 6d, being the amount of the quarter's levy, plus 6d fine, leaving me 2s with which to pay room rent arid'meals for a week. I protested, but was told .those were the instructions. I was not the-only one so treated; there were dozens of others, Did these instructions come from the Commissioner of' Unemployment?—l am, etc.,
SORE DISTRESSED.
