FREAK APPLE TREE
BEARING SECOND CROP NOW
A reader lias sent mo two sprays of small green apples from a young tree which flowered late in the autumn, after the first crop had matured and been picked. Freaks of this kind, although not common, are not unknown. Many plants flower quite out of season, perhaps on account of our climate, where one season runs into another. ■
During last summer a bed of three-year-old hcllcboras flowered throughout, although the correct time for them to bloom is July and August. I also had Japanese irises blooming twice in the year, and have at present a ncrinc. in bloom. All these in the open garden.
