Pears: Winter Coles, 10s to 12s; Nelis, 8s to 9s 6d; Keifi'ers, 6s 6d to 8s; P. Barrys, Gs to 7s. Lemons: New Zealand choice cured, 14s to 18s; others, 8s to 10s. Celery, 10s to 14s per banana case. It is estimated by the United States Department of Agriculture that the gross income from farms, including grazing and stock fattening propositions, in the United States during 1932 was £1,028.000,000, compared with £1,382,000,000 in 1031. After allowing for current production expenses, such as interest on loans, rates, wages for hired help, the cash balance is said to have been £260,000,000 in 1932. This j failed to cover interest on capital, family labour, and management costs by £231,000.000. The Dominion Bureau of Statistics at ■ Ottawa has just issued an advance report , on the manufacturing industries of Canada for 1931, showing an output valued at 12.008,461,862 dollars, a decline of 21.3 per cent, during the twelve months and a decrease of 1.330,009,478 dollars, or 33 per cent, compared with the 1929 figures.
