SHOOTING AFFAIR
NO CLUE TO ASSAILANT
(By Telegraph.—Press Association.)
CHRISTCHURCH, This Day.
Leonard Lee, the wounded railway clerk, is still in hospital. The bullet in his jaw is causing him considerable pain, but his general condition is improving.
The police investigations have virtually reached an impasse. The most likely avenues of inquiry have been exhausted without furnishing a clue to the assailant or a motive. It is hoped that if the bullet can be extracted it may provide information of the type and calibre of weapon used. X-ray photographs so far taken do not assis,t greatly.
