THORNDON CLUB
The thirty-eighth annual report o£' the Thorndon Bowling Club states that although more difficult conditions prevailed during the past year than the previous year, members would undoubtedly be satisfied with the results o£ the report and balance-sheet. .., ■ I The club commenced the year with a balance in'hand of £57 18s 2d and closedwith a credit balance of £191 4s 3d. The buildings and surroundings being in good condition at the commencement of the year . no expense, of any magnitude was occasioned in this connection. '".•'•. The green was not in the .condition members would have wished, mainly owing to weather conditions and hard, usage. The many tournaments played on the green, in addition to a very full • entry nr the club competitions, tended to militate against the perfect green members and bowlers in general had been accustomed to expect o£ Thorndon. It was hoped, however, that during the forthcoming season the green would be more in keeping with past years. > - The club commenced the season with a total'membership of 112 (active 07, honorary 14 life 1) and closed with 113 (active 96, honorary 16, life 1). The active membership was increased by .ten new members, which was offset by eight resignations and three .transfers to- the honorary list. '
