GREYTOWN HOSPITAL
PROPOSAL TO CLOSE
WAIRARAPA PROTESTS
(By Telegraph.—Press Association.) CARTERTON, This Day. A representative meeting at Carterton last night entered a strong protest against the proposed action of tlio Wai' rarapa Hospital Board to close the South Wairarapa Hospital, at Greytown. Figures quoted show that the average number of.- patients totalled 467 per year, while the saving in cost to the ratepayers equalled 4d for each £500 of valuation. Other meetings have been held at Grey town, Featherston, and Martinborough, emphatic motions of protest being passed unanimously. It has been decided to send a depU' tation to the Minister of .Health, the deputation to comprise representatives from each town. At last night's meeting the chairman of the Hospital Board was challenged to resign his seat and Tecontest it on the question of the closing of the hospital.
