SIGHTED OVER IRELAND
(Eeceived June 5, 9 a.m.) LONDON, June 4. The transatlantic flyer, James Mattern, was sighted over Clare, Ireland. Mr. James J. Mattern first came into the public eye a year ago, when he attempted to fly round the world. On that occasion he had Mr. Bennett Griffin as his co-pilot. The attempt was made in a Lockheed monoplane in July, and the flight ended when they made a forced landing at night in a bog near Minsk, Eussia, and the machine overturned. The great feature of the effort was that the airmen accomplished the first non-stop flight from .Newfoundland to Berlin, taking 18 hours 41 minutes for the journey.
