SPOILT BY WEATHER
Torrential rain after lunch at the Hutt prevented the completion of the match play on ' handicap tourney. Greens and course were temporarily inundated in patches by lagoons of casual water. All the finals, with the exception of group 5, which finished, will be played off next
Saturday, as will the tie in the four-ball. The results of the tourney to date are as follows: — Group I.—Second round: W. K. Cook beat K. Jeffrey, 1 up at the nineteenth; I. A. H. Symos beat A. M. Cousins; 4 and 3; L. C. liemery beat -H. K. A damson, 3 and 2;- S. J. Hints beat J. L. Black, 1 up. Semi-final: Hemery beat Hines; Synics beat Cook. Group 2.—Second round: L. R. Gilmour beat A. E. Park, 6 and 4; J. A. Maekay beat J. G. Hart, 1 up at the twenty-fourth; P. Ellerm beat R. W. McDowell, 4 and 3; D. J. F. White beat C. M. Watt, G and 4. Semi-finals: Maekay beat Gilmour, 6 and 5; Walt beat FJlcrm, 4 and 3. Group 3. —Second round: A. C. Miles beat 11. B. AVheeler, 3 and 2; W. B. Rainey beat K. Shennan, 8 and 6; N. R. C. Wilson beat J. F. Taylor, 3 and 1; W. Davidge beat M. l'aulin, 2 and 1. Semifinals: Rainey beat Miles; 6 and 0; Davidge beat Wilson, 5 and 4. Group 4.—Second round: W. Hanley, who beat J. Hanratty in the first round instead of vice versa, as reported on Saturday, beat W. H. Lees, 1 up; N. Ballinger beat J. P. Phillips, 1 up; H. W. Nash beat N. B. Gibbons, 2 and 1; W. C. Wedderspoon beat D. F. Porter, 2 up. Semifinals: Ballinger beat Hanley, 1 up; Nash j beat Wedderspoou. 2 and 1. Group s.—Semi-finals: J. E. Tunnington beat T. L. Webb; C. R. Clayton beat R. McDonald. : In the final Clayton beat Timnington. 2 and 1. The bogey competition on Saturday was won by C. M. AVatt (0), 3 up. AY. Martin won the stroke competition played in the afternoon, bis card being 93, 22 —71. The first four-ball- was won by C. Za-1 hara and J. > T. I). Maedonald, 7 up. The second four-ball resulted in a tie, J. L. Jones, F. E. Cooper, 11. A. Wilkinson, and A. L. McLean finishing 1 down. They will play off next Saturday, when the stroke competition for A. H. Dyke's trophy will be played, players choosing their partners.
