TOURNEY AT NELSON
(Special to the "Evenlnfl Post.") NELSON, June 3. The annual King's Birthday men's sixaside hockey tournament was held on the Botanical Keserve. The ground was slow after rain during the week, but the weather was splendid- and there was _ a large attendance. The senior competition was played in two sections, the winners of each section meeting in the final. The juniors played on the usual knock-out system. The results were as follows:— SENIOR—SECTION A. Wakatu A 2, Richmond 0; Waimai A beat Kiwi B by default, but playing a scratch team, drew 2 all; Federal B 2, Richmond 2; Wakatu i, Kiwi B 1; WaimaiA 3, Federal B 1; Richmond defeated Kiwi B by default; Waimai A 1, Wakatu A 1; Federal B beat Kiwi B; Waimai A 3, Richmond 0; Wakatu A 1, Federal B 0. Waimai and Wakatu being equal in section A had to play off again to decide who should meet Kiwi in the final. In the play-off Wakatu won, 1-0. Section B: Federal A 2, Wakatu 1; Waimai B 1, Stoke 1; Kiwi A 1, Federal A 1; Stoke 2, Wakatu B 0; Kiwi A 3, Waimai B 0; Stoke 1, Federal A 1; Wakatu 80, Waimai B 0; Kiwi A 1, Stoke, 0; Federal A 1, Waimai B 1; Kiwi A 1, Wakatu B 0. The final: The final was played between Wakatu and Kiwi, the teams being:— Wakatu: Chapman, Duncan, Best, Harford, Nightingale, and Russell. Kiwi: Holland, Coker, Toms, Paterson, Whitwell, and Burns. At the end of the allotted time each team had scored a goal. A great struggle followed, two more spells being played before Kiwi scored the winning goal. __^__^_ — __
