FEILDING TOURNEY

Seventy-two teams were entered for the annual seven-a-9ide tourney at Feilding on Saturday, representing the Wanganm, Wellington, Levin, Taihape, Palmerston North, Dannevirke, Norsewood, and Feilding districts. The grounds were: -well saturated from the recent rains, and the play was slow in consequence. Some excellent games were seen. The weather kept fine for the whole day and the tourney was finished well to time. MEN'S SECTION. In the men's first eliminating, final Pirates A defeated Y.M., Taihape, by a hit behind; Colyton defeated Piratea B, 3-0; P.D.C. A defeated Kiwi A by a hit behind. The second eliminating final resulted: Huia defeated Pirates A, 5-3; Central 0.8. A defeated United A, 6-1; Coly-. ton A defeated Tokorangi B, 3-0; P.D.C. A defeated Wanderers B by a hit behind. In the semi-finals Central 0.8. A defeated Coly.tou A, 1-0; P.D.C. A defeated Huia, 3-2. • The two Palmerston North teams set a hot pace in the final. During the first half Central 0.8. A scored the first goal, which P.D.C. A promptly equalised in the nest minute. In the second half it looked as if extra time would be required, but Central 0.8. scored from a melee iv front of the P.D.C. goal after a fine battle. LADIES' GAMES. In the ladies' eliminating round, Carnavon A defeated Collegians, 4-0; Athletic A defeated Halcombe A, 1-0; Bunnythorpe • A defeated Tokorangi, 2-0; P.N.O.G. defeated ■ Aotca A, 1-0. In the semi-finals Bunnythorpe A defeated Carnavon A, 2-1; Athletic A defeated P.N.0.G., 2-1. The ladies' final resulted m a hard game between Bunnythorpe A and Athletic Am which extra time had'to be played. Athletic were hard pressed during the first part of the game, but scored a hit behind in the extra time, thus winning the cup. During the evening the annual hockey ball was held, at which Mr. Gordon Elliott (president of the association) presented the trophies won during the day. Much credit is due to the executive, Messrs. A. Hendry (president), S. Chesterfield' (secretary). G. Hill, C. Hart, S. Craine, A. H. Packer, A. G. Johnson, E. A. Garlick, W. Hocken, W. Tricklebank, and F. Pools, for the organisation of the tourney.
