OBITUAEY
MRS. JAMES MOORE.
The death occurred yesterday morning at the age of 81 years, of Mrs. James Moore, widow of the late Rev. James Moore, for 35 years seamen's missioner at Wellington. Both Mr. and Mrs. Moore gave a lifetime of service in the interests of seafaring men of all nationalities, having been stationed at Newport, Bristol, Poole, Manchester Ship Canal, Sunderland, and Lowestoft prior to their appointment to Wellington. The late Mrs. Moore- was for ten years—lS79 to 1889 —an agent for the PrisoJiers' Aid Society in England, and did exceptionally fine work in rehabilitating delinquents. During the past 35 years she worked unselfishly at the mission in Stout Street, and endeared herself to thousands of seafaring men who made use of the mission premises while their ship was in port. Since the death of Mr. Moore, when her health was failing rapidly, her thought was all of the mission and the seamen. A short service was held today at the Mission Church, the burial taking place at Karori. A memorial service will be held at the Missions to Seamen Institute Church, Stout Street, next Sunday evening.
